Mike Shockley joined RGT in 1999 and has nearly 30 years of experience in financial planning and investment analysis. Before joining the firm, he was a practicing attorney. He is a member of the bars of both California and the District of Columbia. Mike has also served as a financial advisor for a boutique investment firm specializing in fixed income securities as well as a large Wall Street firm. He has been recognized by D Magazine as one of the best financial planners in Dallas.
Mike has been heavily involved in various organizations throughout his career. He is currently a member of Circle Ten Council’s (B.S.A) Executive Board and the Advisory Council for National Advisor Trust, NA. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Dallas, where he has taught Business Law and Investments at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Mike currently serves as a Group Leader in Provisors, a national organization serving trusted advisors. He served on the National Board of the Financial Planning Association and as a past president and board member of the Orange County, California Chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
Mike earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University, where he also played Division I Soccer. He is a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Business Honor Society. Mike also earned the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts.
Mike coached youth soccer for several years – from recreational leagues to club. He has also given his time to the Special Olympics as a soccer and basketball coach.
